Canadian artist Serg Belo has created an image which is 334 m² in size out of biodegradable cups filled with rainwater. Its purpose is to draw public attention to the problem of freshwater pollution, and to remind all of us where we come from, what we strive for and what we are doing to our environment.
Serg Belo’s water mosaic is made up of 66,000 biodegradable cups, 16,000 litres of rainwater, and 1 kg of organic dye.
The image depicts an unborn child. Serg wanted to draw public attention to the fact that all living beings need water — including those who haven’t yet come into the world. More than 100 people volunteered to assist Serg in bringing his vision for the project to life.
The creation of the image took 62 hours of meticulous work.
